Red Coat underglazes produce intense, opaque reds when fired under GL611 Ultra clear or GL 612 Diamond Clear glaze.
They must be applied to shelf cone 04 bisque and allowed to dry thoroughly before applying glaze and glaze firing to shelf cone 06.
They will block out any underlying EZ Stroke colors, but some EZ Strokes may be successfully applied over Red Coats.
Red Coat underglazes are formulated to be used with GL611 or GL612 clear glaze, due to their cadmium content, they are not recommended for use on dinnerware items.
Red Coats do not work successfully with IN1001 Clear glaze.
Greenware pieces partially decorated with Cover Coats and bisque fired to shelf cone 04 can be accented with Red Coats color.
Red Coats may be used for sponging and most decorative brushwork.
